ZED Tools 5.2
Release notes of the ZED Tools shipped with the ZED SDK 5.2 series. Patch releases are listed newest first. Download links and the full changelog, including the ZED SDK and integrations, are available on the ZED SDK 5.2 release page.
What’s New
ZED Studio gains 2D depth map views and depth parameter controls for cameras, SVOs and streams, a resizable left panel and faster multi-camera rendering. ZED Explorer displays the physical GMSL port of each camera. ZED SDK 5.2.1 fixes the command-line options of ZED Explorer and ZED Depth Viewer and makes the NEURAL depth model optimization in ZED Depth Viewer more robust, and ZED SDK 5.2.2 introduces the beta ZED Sensor Placer tool for multi-sensor extrinsic calibration.
5.2.3
Released: Mar 26, 2026
ZED Depth Viewer
- Fixed the UI refresh rate when pausing SVO playback.
5.2.2
Released: Mar 13, 2026
ZED Explorer
- Fixed wrong FPS reported on Windows.
ZED Depth Viewer
- Fixed the point cloud density.
ZED Diagnostic
- Fixed a crash when testing the camera on Windows.
ZED Sensor Placer
- Added the new beta ZED Sensor Placer tool for multi-sensor extrinsic calibration using manual placement. It supports both cameras and lidars.
5.2.1
Released: Mar 2, 2026
ZED Explorer
- Fixed the “No current context available” error on Jetson platforms.
- Fixed the
--resolution,--frequency,--inputand--serial_numbercommand-line options being ignored when selecting a camera for recording, streaming, firmware update, or GUI launch. - Changed the default resolution from hardcoded values to
AUTO, which resolves to the best default per camera model (e.g.HD720for USB cameras,HD1200for GMSL), consistent with thesl::InitParametersdefaults. Applies to both the CLI and the GUI. - Fixed “FRAMERATE: N/A” being reported for USB cameras.
ZED Studio
- Completely removed the depth map field from the Settings Panel for monocular cameras.
- Added the option to enable or disable the depth view directly from the Depth Panel by changing the
Depth mode. - Fixed a UI issue when opening SVO files.
- Depth settings are now applied to SVO and stream inputs.
ZED Depth Viewer
- Fixed the
--resolutionand--frequencycommand-line options being parsed but never applied. - Fixed a crash (SIGSEGV) occurring during or after
NEURALdepth model optimization. Optimization now runs in an isolated subprocess, preventing TensorRT-related crashes across camera open and close cycles. - Fixed the optimization dialog displaying a generic “NEURAL” label instead of the selected mode (NEURAL, NEURAL PLUS or NEURAL LIGHT).
- Fixed the depth view freezing while the optimization confirmation dialog was displayed.
- Fixed declining the optimization dialog switching to a different depth mode instead of keeping the current one.
ZED Sensor Viewer
- Fixed the sensor data frequency not being displayed when using an SVO input.
ZEDfu
POSITIONAL_TRACKING_MODE::GEN_3is now the default positional tracking mode, consistent with the ZED SDK.
ZED Diagnostic
- Fixed a crash (SIGSEGV) during the camera resolution tearing test. It was systematic on Linux and intermittent on Windows.
5.2.0
Released: Feb 10, 2026
ZED Explorer
- Added the display of the physical GMSL ports in both the CLI and the GUI.
- Updated the ZED Mini MCU firmware reference to v517.
- Fixed a crash occurring in the Windows settings.
- Fixed a UI issue where the MCU firmware update could stop ZED Explorer from working.
ZED Studio
- Added the
-lflag to list the serial number, ID and GMSL port of the connected cameras. - Added 2D depth map views for cameras, SVOs and streams, and depth parameter controls. The 2D depth map can only be toggled for stereo cameras.
- Improved rendering performance for multi-camera setups.
- Made the left panel resizable; it can also be fully collapsed.
- Fixed the style of the “Connect to Stream” window on Windows.
ZED Sensor Viewer
- Fixed IMU retrieval errors during frame corruption.
ZEDfu
- Fixed tracking modes being ignored after a reset.
ZED360
- Console logs are now visible in the Windows terminal.
