ZED Box Orin NX

StereoLabs’ ZED Box Orin is a compact gateway powered by NVIDIA® Jetson™ for challenging AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) in mobile and field situations. It is designed to bring spatial perception and understanding at the edge and aggregate, process, and analyze data from 3D sensors and equipment.

Main features

The ZED Box Orin is a ready-to-use edge AI system: an NVIDIA® Jetson™ compute module, native GMSL2 camera connectivity, and industrial-grade I/O in a compact, fanless enclosure with passive heat dissipation.

Compute module

The ZED Box Orin is available with different NVIDIA® Jetson™ compute modules, so you can match the computing power to the requirements of your application:

  • NVIDIA® Jetson™ Orin Nano 8 GB - 67 TOPS
  • NVIDIA® Jetson™ Orin NX 8 GB - 117 TOPS
  • NVIDIA® Jetson™ Orin NX 16 GB - 157 TOPS

GMSL2 camera connectivity

GMSL2 connectivity is a standard feature of the ZED Box Orin. It enables high-speed, low-latency data transfer between the processing unit and your ZED GMSL2 cameras, making it an ideal choice for industrial grade applications.

  • 4 GMSL2 ports on a single 4-wire FAKRA connector, organized in 2 groups: A (ports #0 and #1) and B (ports #2 and #3).
  • Compatible with ZED X, ZED X Mini, ZED X Nano, ZED X One GS, ZED X One S, and ZED X One 4K cameras.
  • The GMSL2 driver is pre-installed, so the cameras are available as soon as you connect them.

Connectivity

All the connection ports are available on the front panel, described in the installation guide:

  • 1x GMSL2 4-wire FAKRA camera connector
  • 1x 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet RJ45 with PoE+ support
  • 3x USB 3.0 Type-A
  • 1x HDMI
  • 1x Micro USB2.0 Type-B for system flashing, OTG, and serial console access
  • WiFi module with external antenna
  • 1x external antenna connector for the GNSS option

Storage memory

An internal NVMe SSD mounted on an M.2 socket hosts the operating system and your data. Three capacities are available:

  • 256 GB
  • 1 TB
  • 2 TB

Power supply

The ZED Box Orin can be powered in two ways:

  • 12V DC barrel jack, with the provided power supply: allows the use of the 25W power mode.
  • PoE+, through a PoE+-enabled network switch: the power mode must not exceed 15W.

Software

The ZED Box Orin is shipped with a pre-configured operating system, including the NVIDIA® JetPack™ software stack, the ZED SDK, and the GMSL2 drivers, so it is operational out of the box. Flashing is only required to change the JetPack version or to recover the device, as described in the flashing guide.

In addition to the features above, the ZED Box Orin can be configured with the following options, based on your specific needs and use cases.

With the GNSS option, users can take advantage of the ZED Box Orin’s advanced processing capabilities to create AI systems that can operate with high precision and accuracy, even in challenging environments.
